9 September 2012
Today it is the 90th anniversary of survival of Izmir from Greek occupation.
On 15 May 1919, the Greek Army occupied Izmir. The Turkish Army which was commanded by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, retook possession of Izmir on 9 September 1922, effectively ending the Greco-Turkish War (1919-1922) in the field.
The photo shows the youth in celebrations of the anniversary.
